Cimex are a communications agency who provide interactive mixed media solutions. Cimex commissioned Deliverers to produce video content for an interactive website hosted by a large pharmaceutical company. The video was designed to bring the site to life, grabbing the user’s attention with movement and monologues and responding to each user’s actions.

Deliverers’ provided all of the video production, which meant understanding and delivering on a complex and challenging brief. This involved:

• Providing script consultancy on 20 monologues
• Casting actors as a convincing ‘family’ unit, from age 10 to 60
• Researching and providing 20 realistic costumes
• Providing all crew and equipment (lights, camera, sound, autocue, drapes) for the shoot at the Hampshire Street Studio
• Choreographing 20 performances on green screen
• Editing video into a combined total running time of over 40minutes using Final Cut Pro
• Keying out and synchronizing all 180 clips in After Effects
• Encoding 180 video clips to flash video
• Managing and providing clips in a comprehensive and intuitive fashion
• Providing creative and technical solutions throughout all stages of production

What made this project especially challenging was the nature of its delivery and how the video clips would be programmed subsequent to delivery. Each character moves continuously and randomly to keep the website fresh and engaging. Therefore Deliverers synchronized the start and end points of each and every clip so that all of the movements were seamless when the video clips were looped together. When programmed into the flash module the video clips play in perpetuity, each character seemingly aware of their surroundings and the other characters.

Applying this technique to five characters, each multiplied over four seasons (each season had a different costume and monologue) meant that the project was vast in scale and required a huge amount of technical attention to detail throughout the planning, shooting and post production period.
