• The Power of Two meeting, 5-8th May 2009 Prague Czech Rep, gathered over 250 delegates of the EUCAN Immunology team to recognize the success of Remicade in achieving $2bn worth of sales. The conference also focused on aligning the team to drive towards double digit growth and energizing delegates to exert positive impact on their local teams.

• The Power of Two theme highlighted the importance of the imminent Simponi launch to the Immunology team and in particular to the Rheumatology franchise. The Gastroenterology franchise’s Power of Two lies with its two hugely successful indications: UC and CD, and Skin and Nails are the two cornerstones for the Dermatology franchise’s outstanding achievement.

• The Best Practices “Science Fair” sessions for each franchises were a big hit. This unprecedented initiative was triggered by requests from local countries to share ideas across geographical boundaries. The Best Practices “Science Fair” banners, displaying innovative projects from across EUCAN, succinctly highlighted the WHY, WHAT, and IMPACT of each project. Delegates voted for their favourite from the 66 submissions and the shortlisted project owners each made a brief presentation to the group in front of their banner. The finalists were scored by the delegates against a set of criteria ranging from “Outside the box” Thinking to Business Goals and Strategies Alignment. The winning project owners were filmed giving a 2-minute introduction to the project, which were shown on the last day of the meeting to encourage cross franchise sharing.

• Looking to the future, the Immunology team is eager to maintain the Best Practices’ momentum and the Power of Two website will enable delegates to download material from the meeting.

• The meeting was organised by Nancy Retzlaff, Cathy Galvin (Senior Product Manager), Val Taccogna with the help of the Global Franchise teams and Deliverers Consultancy.
